d-you: Kontrollfeld is a launch partner of the German EUDI wallet

On 9 September 2026 Germany’s Federal Ministry for Digital and State Modernisation named its EUDI wallet in public for the first time: it is called d-you. A wallet without applications is an empty pocket. That is the lesson from a decade of German identity projects: the technology was rarely the problem, the missing places to use it were. Which makes the partner list the actual news. The savings banks, the cooperative banks and the KfW are in, as are Deutsche Post, Vodafone, Rossmann and E.ON, the Federal Employment Agency and the German Pension Insurance, along with federal states, districts and cities from Aachen through Dresden to Heidelberg, plus several universities.
At launch there should be applications for proving your age, signing a contract with legal effect, or opening a bank account. Not eventually — on day one.
What we bring
On the partner wall our contribution appears under the name it started with: EUDI Verified Call. A video call in which both sides know who they are talking to, because the identity comes from the wallet rather than from an uploaded photo of an ID card.
The case is unspectacular, and that is what makes it interesting. Wherever a conversation happens today that really needs proof of identity — advice, applications, remote treatment, signing a contract — the check runs alongside it: by postal identification, by a video-legitimation provider, or not at all. With the wallet it becomes part of the conversation itself.

What there is to do before 2 January
For companies that accept credentials — age, identity, professional qualification, power of attorney — one basic assumption changes between now and then. Until now the check was a separate process step with its own provider. From now on it is a protocol that the application speaks itself.
That is less work, but it is a different architecture. Whoever bought identity verification yesterday will integrate it tomorrow.
