About
Kontrollfeld is a Berlin-based agency for AI and automation systems. Our standard: we run the systems we sell.
For many years we worked under the claim Agentur für binäre Medien — an agency for binary media. The category has changed; the standard behind it has not: what we hand over has to run in production, not in a presentation.
Two decades, one address
We have worked from the same street in Berlin-Mitte since 2006. The address in the imprint is not a mailbox — it is the office where the systems this website talks about are built.
You see it most clearly in the projects that stayed. We have looked after the websites of coparion, Monopol, suite030 and Philosophie Magazin for years — not as versions shipped once, but in daily operation: updates, new requirements, changing editorial processes. The platform for Stiftung Planetarium Berlin went the same way: box-office integration, group bookings and newsletters arrived one after another because daily operation needed them.
So what you get from us is rarely a finished project, but someone who still knows the system when the requirements change.
We did try hardware once: Sleeping Beauty, a GPS tracker with a cellular module, built in Berlin and given the Cool Idea! Award — the processor inside answered to the name "Prince Charming". It worked, and we returned to software promptly afterwards. A bad deployment can be rolled back; a circuit board that has already been manufactured cannot.
The company is run by Markus Bruns and Jakob Lipps. Write to us and the reply does not come from a sales department, but from the person who would build the system.
Four fields
Our work falls into four fields — and they belong together. A system that makes knowledge queryable needs a sign-in that holds, a platform to run on, and someone accountable for it afterwards. Which is why you do not get one of them from us without the others.
AI & automation →
Making knowledge queryable and taking over repetitive work: RAG systems with measurable answer quality, MCP servers as a controlled entrance for AI assistants, receipt capture that keeps every figure traceable to the original document.
Identity & secure communication →
Who may do what — and how do you prove it later? Sign-in with Keycloak, identification through the EUDI wallet, real-time communication without a third-party cloud, and evidence that holds up in court.
Platforms & revenue models →
The systems you publish, sell and bill with: editorial and corporate platforms, shops and product tools, subscription and paywall models, ticketing, newsletters.
Architecture, operations & sovereignty →
The frame around everything else: the decision beforehand, the route away from the legacy system, the accountability afterwards — and software built and published so others can reuse it.
