## Starting point

An operator running several venues sells tickets for very different formats — from science shows to conferences. The existing ticketing barely covered seat maps, quotas and the integration of box-office and third-party systems. Before committing to a system, the operator wanted proof that an open-source solution actually carries these requirements.

## Approach

A proof of concept built on the open-source software pretix, rebuilding the critical parts as a prototype rather than asserting them: interactive seat-map booking in the browser, including auditorium layouts beyond classic rows, quota management per venue and format, integration of external systems through a dedicated middleware layer, and foyer screens with live programme data. A conference application complements it.

## Status

The feasibility question is answered: the architecture holds, and per-ticket licence fees and data sovereignty both come out in favour of the open-source route. **None of it is in production** — whether to adopt it is the operator's decision.
